Separating knife blanks from the bar of steel. Instead of sawing the excess off as I did here, I normally go to the Blue Beast (a 2X72 grinder I built) and grind them out as it is faster!

Pattern, CPM154, 416 stainless acorn bolts, English walnut, Iron wood, black walnut. Not shown is the 4th handle material, either Tule oak or red micarta, to be decided.
After the steel is cleaned with acetone and coated with layout blue, position the pattern securely in position and trace outline with a steel scribe.
Patterns are clearly laid out to optimize yield from the steel bar. Now off to the bandsaw!
